Launching Clear Wax Solutions with a Website and Bespoke Operations Portal

When Steve Durham launched Clear Wax Solutions, he was starting from scratch. The business specialised in mobile ear irrigation and ear wax removal services across Plymouth and the surrounding area, but like many startups, there was no existing website, booking process or operational software in place.

Steve needed more than an online presence. As a mobile service provider, much of his time would be spent travelling between appointments and treating clients in person. The business needed a simple way for customers to book appointments while also giving Steve the tools to stay organised, manage customer information and keep track of repeat visits.

CoreTechnics worked closely with Steve to create both the public-facing website and a bespoke operational portal, giving the new business a professional launch platform and the systems needed to support day-to-day operations.

Building a business from day one

Unlike many projects where a business already has a website in place, Clear Wax Solutions was a true startup. Everything needed to be created from the ground up. The website had to establish credibility, explain the services clearly and provide a straightforward route for customers to make bookings.

Many of the people using the service were older clients, so simplicity was a key requirement. The website and booking process needed to be easy to understand and free from unnecessary complexity. Rather than overwhelming visitors with features, the focus was on creating a smooth customer journey that worked for the people actually using it.

A bespoke portal built around the way the business worked

While the website helped customers find and book services, the real operational challenge happened behind the scenes. Steve needed a reliable way to manage appointments, customer records and treatment notes while spending most of his day visiting clients.

To support this, CoreTechnics developed a bespoke portal using TwistPHP. The system provided appointment management, client management, customer notes, appointment reminder emails and repeat business tracking. Instead of relying on spreadsheets, disconnected systems or manual processes, everything could be managed from one place.

The portal was designed specifically around the way the business operated. It helped reduce administration, improved appointment organisation and ensured important client information was always accessible when needed.

The booking system and portal were closely linked, creating a simple workflow from enquiry through to appointment completion. Although the booking functionality was intentionally straightforward, that simplicity became a strength. It matched the needs of the customer base while keeping the administration process manageable for a single practitioner.

The combination of online bookings, appointment reminders and customer management helped create a smoother experience for both the business and its clients. Steve could spend less time dealing with paperwork and more time delivering treatments.

Supporting growth and business transition

Clear Wax Solutions remained hosted and supported by CoreTechnics following launch, with the platform continuing to support daily operations as the business grew.

In 2025, the business was acquired by Holmes Ear Care, who also became a CoreTechnics client. The Clear Wax Solutions platform continues to play an important role while plans move forward for a new Holmes Ear Care website and platform that will bring together content and services from both businesses.
